2005 Get up and Ride Tour: Stop 1 Riverside, Texas

This year besides running our regular camps, we decided to do a "Get Up and Ride 2005 Tour." We will be traveling to all of the biggest wakeboarding events in Texas giving clinics and promoting our sponsors.

Our first stop was in Riverside, Texas, about an hour outside of Houston. The Texas Roundup hosted by the GCWA was held at Bethy Creek resort on the Trinity River.

We hooked up sponsorship from Boardstop.com and Boardflix.com for the year so it was a great time to take our first trip together. Ed from Boardstop.com/Boardflix.com decided we would take his new rig there. Ed and Mark showed up Friday afternoon with their Surburban and boat fully stocked!! Monique, Bianca and I jumped in and off we went… "on a three hour tour.. a three hour tour."

The drive was great… but wait, Ed drove the whole time while we watched the "The Butter Effect" on DVD available at Boardflix.com Sorry Ed!!!

So we got there and met some new friends and some old ones too.

The Weather Started Getting Rough

On Saturday we woke up colder and windier conditions. The temperature ad dropped about 20 degrees from about 80 to 60 and a little rain to boot. Well that just made a perfect excuse for everyone to sleep in, or lay around a couple of extra hours.

Finally, after some people started to move around outside, everyone got their gear and headed out to ride the Trinity. Our crew consisted of some familiar faces from Austin, and some new friends from Houston. Luckily we had a local riding in our clinics. Apparently it paid off because there was some tricky navigation no doubt as you can see in the picture to the left. Besides having to go a precise route out of the cove we were in, which had several stumps and very low waters, we had to traverse this super low and narrow channel to actually get to the main part of the river to ride. At first we swore that pathway was not doable, but after much reassuring from Rich the local, we went through.

The River was glass so we proceeded to make good use of it all day!!!

Later that afternoon we returned to the site for the contest. The sun actually came out for a couple of hours and everyone enjoyed the rest of the day.

There was plenty to eat and drink as well as event swag and other swag. Later that night there was plenty of hanging out, story telling (mostly lies) and adult beverages. Not to mention promises of what was to be thrown the next day behind the boat.

Sunny Sunday

Sunday's conditions were much better. We decided to all take a set before we left. Off we went to ride the Trinity again! The water was glass again and everyone had a blast.

See pictures of all of our riding adventures!!!

Good thing we didn't tell Mandy about that huge snake she practically rode over!!! We headed in a little early knowing that we still had a little drive ahead of us back to Austin.

We packed up and said our goodbyes to everyone and hit the road!
